Il testo sembra ricoprire una funzione sociale, in quanto sprona il popolo a "non rubare nel villaggio" per non "far soffrire la Madonna", che non tollera questi atti compiuti nella "sua casa" (la chiesa). L'aneddoto si riferisce alla leggenda del furto nella chiesa del monastero a Maria di Montserrat, nel quale la Madonna apparve a conclusione della messa, serrando le porte della Chiesa con i fedeli al suo interno, finchè il ladro non confessò la sua colpa pentendosi.

The text seems to have a social function, as it encourages the people to "not steal in the village" so as not to "make Our Lady suffer", who do not tolerate these acts performed in "her house of hers" (the church). The anecdote refers to the legend of the theft in the church of the monastery at Maria di Montserrat, in which the Madonna appeared at the end of the mass, closing the doors of the Church with the faithful inside, until the thief confessed his guilt and repented.
